CDL-A Relief Driver

Location: Sacramento, CA

CDL- A Relief Driver

Pay: $38.00 - $40.00/hr. plus full benefits plus Quarterly Bonuses!

Hours/Days: Sunday night through Wednesday night, 4–10-hour days, guaranteed 10 hours per day.

Job Purpose: Relief driver(s) will be required to commute and travel to various domicile locations. Relief drivers will be responsible for covering day delivery routes as well as covering night shuttle routes. Hotel stays will be required depending on domicile locations and hours of service. All relief drivers are required to be double-endorsed.

Primary area coverage will be Sacramento, Red Bluff, Carson City, and Santa Rosa. Secondary area coverage can include Bay Area, Fresno, Gilroy, and San Luis Obispo.

Duties:

· Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.

· Report any vehicle problems and defects to Transportation Manager or maintenance.

· Operate tractor-trailer units in compliance with all DOT standards and regulations.

· Transport and deliver goods in accordance with the schedule.

· Properly secure loads.

· Verify count and condition of goods loaded & unloaded.

· Drop & hook trailers.

· Unload or assist in unloading freight.

· When shuttling, collect paperwork for route drivers.

· Safety, accuracy, and accountability.

· Required to perform other job duties as business needs arise.

Skill requirement:

· Ability to work well without close supervision.

· Good oral and written communication skills

· Able to understand and follow oral and written work instructions.

· Valid CDL Class A license with doubles endorsement.

· Good driving record.

· Ability to read invoices and compute collections and deductions quickly and correctly.

· Ability to use electronic logging devices.

Working Conditions - Mental demands/Physical Demands/Environmental factors:

· Continual sitting, walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching.

· Work outside and inside.

· Work around machinery.

· Work around moving objects or vehicles.

· Exposure to dampness and humidity and slippery or uneven walking surfaces.

· Use snow chains and be able to drive in adverse driving conditions.

Applicants are required to pass a pre-employment Physical Abilities Test, DOT drug test, and have a valid Class A CDL with current Medical Certification Card.
