Key Account Executive - Greater Seattle

Department: Sales Admin
Location: Seattle metro, WA

The Key Account Executive is a dynamic role responsible for developing and managing strong partnerships with chain customers both new and current in several food retail channels (vending, entertainment, grocery, institutional, hospitality, and travel.) This position requires a winning mindset, strong sales motivation and desire to improve our customers’ business utilizing superb communication skills in both written and oral presentations/materials, a cross-functional approach to departmental support and operations, and a keen understanding of competitive margin analysis, pricing, deliverables, and consistent revenue production. This position will be in office 1-1.5 days per week in Lacey WA. Local candidates only in the greater Seattle area.

Compensation: $75K 100K DOE

Key Performance Measurements:

  • Successfully manage assigned key customer partnerships and strengthen relationships through outstanding support.
  • Achieve targeted gross margin and sales growth across assigned chain customer programs.
  • Development of new business and quota achievement.
  • Review and educate supporting Harbor teams on customer requirements.
  • Ensure program integrity is upheld and communicated effectively internally and externally.
  • Achieve program objectives as set by Harbor and the VP of Sales.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work closely with VP of Sales on customer requirements and business needs.
  • Is responsible for acquisition of new customers and chain business development.
  • Prospecting through in person meetings, phone, or email.
  • Must establish meetings with decision makers and complete sales cycle by closing targeted, prospective customers.
  • Develop loyal and profitable relationships with key customers focused on partnership and their mutual success.
  • Manage customer meetings and annual/bi-annual business review processes consistently emphasizing growth and superior support.
  • Manage and review all customer cards, reviews and discounts.
  • Coordinate, meet with, and communicate ongoing customer needs to internal Harbor teams.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly all follow up needs from customer meetings.
  • Identification, communication and advisement of program, product and operational needs for key customers relative to current company market strategies.
  • Work closely with the purchasing team on chain purchasing requirements including item selection, vendor pricing and program requirements.
  • Develop and present customer business reviews thoroughly with thoughtful material and content to ensure growth objective and customer service needs are achieved.
  • Manage and review customer profitability to ensure targets are achieved.
  • Set a consistent rhythm out in the field for prospecting, customer meetings, and location visits.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Successful track record managing key chain and independent customer relationships.
  • Experience in prospecting, presenting, and closing new business.
  • Strong sales experience and a network within the wholesale/retail food industry.
  • History of improving customer profitability and growing business.
  • Knowledge of supply contracts and implementation throughout the supply chain.
  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of pricing negotiation and management for chain customers.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication.
  • Professional presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Exceptional relationship building skills and desire to create long-lasting business relationships.
  • Bachelor’s degree or related business experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to spend nights and days in the field is required.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and be able to work more than a 40-hour work week.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Communications preferred
  • 5 years’ experience in sales. Preferably in a new business development role within the CPG or related food industry. Experience with multi-unit chain customers is highly preferred.
