Fleet Technician

Location: Lacey, WA

Fleet Technician

Schedule: Sun - Thurs, Days 12:30PM - 9:00PM

Pay: $29.00 - $33.00/hr. D.O.E. Plus benefits

SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to perform preventative maintenance and repair work on all company trucks, trailers and equipment in order to minimize the effect of down time on production. Must work well independently, understand accountability, and have a desire to take care of internal customers. Safety is the bottom line and the work done by this person helps keep everyone safe.

Responsibilities and Essential Tasks

  • Perform oil changes as necessary.

  • Lubricate chassis, transmissions, wheel hubs, rear axles, and 5th wheels.

  • Check batteries on tractors, trailers, light duty and liftgates.

  • Check and replace belts.

  • Check and replace brake pads/shoes.

  • Check and replace wheel bearings.

  • Diagnose and fix electrical problems (DC or low voltage)

  • Maintain fluid levels as needed.

  • Replace starter, alternators, windshield wipers and generators (light to heavy vehicles)

  • Occasional Fabricating/ welding.

  • Maintain and repair trailer overhead doors.

  • Help diagnose and repair trailer refrigeration units.

Knowledge and Skill Requirement

  • Mechanic experience on both light and heavy equipment preferred.

  • Refrigeration experience preferred (especially 608 certified)

  • All experience with any mechanical functions within an organized fleet and with machinery that requires regular maintenance will be considered.

  • CDL is preferred but not required for this position

Education and Experience

High School diploma

Licenses: Valid WA Driver’s License [Class A CDL Driver’s License (preferred)]

Dug Screen, Background, and MVR req.
